Yoga for Pro Athletes

Yoga and Sports

I have taught yoga to some of the best athletes in the USA. Working on injury prevention, rehabilitation, improving their performance with yoga (asana), meditation and breath work (pranaymana).

If you are an aspiring sportsperson, wanting to elevate your game, have troubles with getting injured a lot or need assistance with healing from an injury, then you have come to the right place. Book a call or send me an email, and together let's discover what your body, mind and soul needs to become the best in your field.

With my experience I can help you improve your physical and mental well-being, reduce the risk of injury, and enhance your performance on the court or field. These are some of the many benefits of my teachings:

  1. Improved flexibility: Sportspeople need to be able to move quickly and with agility, having good flexibility helps prevent injuries and improve performance.

  2. Relaxation and rejuvenation: Players have to constantly be observant, alert and focused. With Yoga we provide relief to your body, especially your eyes.

  3. Better balance and stability: Yoga poses often require the use of core muscles and focus on balance, which can help athletes improve their stability and reduce the risk of injury.

  4. Increased strength: Yoga can help build strength, particularly in the core and lower body, which can translate to improved performance on the court/field.

  5. Reduced stress and anxiety: Professionals often experience high levels of stress and anxiety, and practicing yoga can be a valuable tool for managing these emotions and promoting relaxation.

  6. Enhanced focus and concentration: Yoga emphasizes mindfulness and awareness, which can help players improve their focus and concentration.

  7. Faster recovery: Yoga can help improve circulation and reduce inflammation, which can speed up the recovery process after a game or practice.

  8. Injury Prevention: From strengthening the ankle, relieving the strain in the lower back, creating freedom in the shoulders to releasing the stiffness in the arms and legs, we will take care of every part in your body to prevent it from exhaustion and the overtraining syndrome.

  9. How to keep fit after retirement: Your system might be used to being active your whole life, now it might be time to share your experience and knowledge with the younger generations and overcome the duality you might face at the end of your sports career with yoga.

Benefits for the Team

Yoga can be an effective team-building activity for athletes for several reasons:

  1. Shared experience: Participating in a yoga session as a team can create a shared experience that helps build camaraderie and a sense of community among the players.

  2. Non-competitive environment: Unlike sports, yoga is a non-competitive activity that allows players to focus on their own practice without feeling the pressure to outperform their teammates. This can create a sense of unity and mutual support within the team.

  3. Promotes communication: Practicing yoga together can encourage open communication among teammates as they work together to complete poses or sequences. This can help build trust and cooperation.

  4. Helps manage stress: Yoga is known to promote relaxation and reduce stress, which can be particularly valuable for athletes who may experience high levels of pressure and anxiety during games and practices.

Overall, practicing yoga as a team can help build stronger relationships, promote positive communication and cooperation, and improve their mental and physical well-being, all of which can contribute to better performance on the court or field.

As a professional athlete, you are constantly pushing your body to its limits, striving to improve your performance and achieve your goals. While traditional training methods such as weightlifting, cardio, and skill-specific drills are essential components of your training, incorporating yoga into your routine can provide a range of unique benefits that can help you take your game to the next level.

As a yoga instructor, I specialize in working with professional athletes like you, tailoring each session to meet your specific needs and goals.

Working with me, you'll receive personalized attention and instruction to help you achieve your specific goals. I will work with you to design a yoga program that complements your existing training and addresses any specific areas of weakness or concern.
